Guidelines for Web Accessibility
Introduction
The National Disability Authority (NDA) recommends the use of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 from the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). However the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 were previously adopted by NDA. The following guidelines, based on WCAG 1.0, were provided to help make them easy to understand and use. The following have been added:
- Explanation and help for each guideline ("checkpoint" in WAI language)
- A list of simplified guideline statements
- A numbering system based on priority
The simplified guideline statements are listed on this page. Each has a link to its explanation and help, which includes the full WAI checkpoint text and a link to the appropriate page on the WAI web site.
The simplified statements, additional explanation and help provided by the NDA have not been endorsed by the World Wide Web Consortium. In case of any perceived contradictions, WAI statements and explanations should be accepted as definitive in all cases.
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 are copyright 1999 W3C (MIT, INRIA, Keio), All Rights Reserved. See status.
